Module 4.6 Review Snapshot
This module covered two key themes:
- Decoupling with SNS & SQS — Amazon SQS is a pull-based message queue (1-to-1); Amazon SNS is a push-based pub/sub service (1-to-many). The fan-out pattern combines them: publish to an SNS topic, deliver copies to multiple SQS queues.
- Elastic Beanstalk — a PaaS where you upload code and AWS handles provisioning, scaling, and monitoring. No extra charge for Beanstalk itself — you pay only for the underlying resources.
Tip
The Golden Rule: Use SQS when one consumer needs to process each message. Use SNS when many subscribers need the same message. Use Beanstalk when you want managed infrastructure for a web app without going fully serverless.
